English Language Arts

All English Language arts courses include content which builds skills in the following areas:

  • Reading literature and informational texts
  • Writing and communicating with clarity for varied audiences and purposes, and
  • Speaking, listening, viewing and presenting

Each course in the sequence from grades nine through twelve is designed to help you prepare for college, work, and the world beyond high school.

All grade 9 and 10 students take one of the following courses for English credit toward graduation:

  • CP World Literature
  • HN World Literature

All grade 11 students take one of the following full year courses:

  • CP American Literature
  • HN American Literature
  • AP American Literature

All grade 12 students take either two elective courses or one year-long course.
