Qualifications of Teachers

The information about the qualifications of teachers is divided into two parts: 1) the percentage of teachers that are certified or licensed to teach in Massachusetts and 2) the percentage of classes taught by teachers who are highly qualified in core academic areas such as Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, etc. Both pieces of information are intended to help you understand the backgrounds and preparation of the teachers who are working with your child

MCAS Achievement Data 2005-2006

School Achievement data are provided for Grade 3 Reading, Grade 4 English Language Arts and Mathematics, Grade 5 Science/Technology, Grade 6 Mathematics, Grade 7 English Language Arts, Grade 8 Mathematics & Science/Technology, and Grade 10 English Language Arts and Mathematics. The bar graphs compare performance levels obtained in 2005 and 2006. The MCAS data from the tests given in the spring of 2007 will be included in next year’s report.

Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP)

The final section provides information about how well your child’s school is progressing toward all students being proficient in Mathematics and English. This system has been established to comply with the accountability provisions of No Child Left Behind, which require, among other things, that each school make “Adequate Yearly Progress” (AYP) toward meeting a national goal of all students being “proficient” in Math and English by the school year 2013-1014. The AYP rating is meant to signal whether our school is on target to meet this goal or whether it has fallen behind.
