CSV FAQs

Who volunteers?

CSV's volunteers include retirees, students, and adults who work and live in Cambridge and surrounding towns.

What is the time commitment?

Volunteers give one or two hours per week, for at least one semester. Many volunteers work more hours.

When are volunteers needed?

We have opportunities any time between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday -Friday, during the school year.

Can I help even if I've never worked in a school?

Yes! You do not have to have prior experience as a tutor or teacher. We will work to match your talents with a need in the schools.

What about training?

Training begins as soon as you attend one of the informational Orientation Sessions. CSV provides ongoing support, and volunteers are invited to CSV training events throughout the year. Special programs have monthly trainings.

What will I need to bring before I begin?

You must provide us with 2 personal references, as well as complete a CORI (background) check.

How do I get started?

For more information or to contact us to sign up for the next orientation session, call (617) 349-6794 or email us.
