Overview

In June 2015, the Cambridge School Committee launched a nationwide search for a new Superintendent of Schools to replace Dr. Jeffrey M. Young, who announced last December that he will be stepping down and concluding his service to the students, staff, and families of the Cambridge Public Schools at the end of the 2015/16 school year.

The Cambridge School Committee has selected the executive search firm of Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates (HYA) to support the national Superintendent search. Recruitment of candidates is actively underway with the goal of selecting a new Superintendent of Schools by the end of October 2015 to assume leadership of the school district effective July 2016.

Community Involvement

The School Committee invites and welcomes community involvement and engagement, and is offering a number of ways in which Cambridge Public Schools stakeholders can have an important voice in the Superintendent of Schools search and selection process, including an online survey, a community-based Superintendent Search Interview Committee, focus groups, community forums, and more.
