WHEREAS: the Buildings and Grounds Committee met over a series of meetings to review and update the Cambridge Public Schools Facilities Policy to produce a more transparent process for leasing space in CPSD buildings;

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the School Committee approve the revisions to the Community Use of Facilities Policy and approve the deletion in its entirety of School Committee Order C91-275 and School Committee Policy File KFA Committee Action as detailed in the attached documents. The revisions to this policy are being recommended to clarify current policy practices regarding the use of school facilities. (first reading).

#17-232, Motion by Buildings and Grounds Sub-Committee, that the School Committee approve the following hourly rental fees for the use of school building facilities outside of school hours and for the use of certain equipment.

#17-233 Joint Motion by Ms. Nolan and Mr. Fantini, that in light of the academic challenge manager vacancy and the departure of the only senior administrator with direct experience in advanced learner programs, that the administration review and report back to the Committee by the end of October on how the district is meeting the needs of advanced learners.

#17-234, Motion by Mayor Simmons, that the Superintendent be and hereby is requested to direct the Head of the RSTA Program and other appropriate CPSD personnel to establish a comprehensive and robust skilled labor trades program, with a view toward alerting more of our students about potential careers in the skilled labor trades, and to report back to the School Committee on the progress towards achieving this in a timely manner.

#17-235, Joint Motion by Ms. Dexter and Ms. Nolan, that whereas the City Council rules allow for videotaping and broadcasting City Council Roundtables, but the current School Committee rules prohibit videotaping and broadcasting School Committee Roundtables, that the Governance Sub-Committee review the Committee's rules and consider whether to recommend a change in the rules to allow, at the School Committee discretion, the videotaping and broadcasting of Roundtables.

#17-236 Joint Motion by Ms. Dexter and Ms. Nolan, that whereas a major objective of the Cambridge Public Schools is equity of opportunity and achievement, including across race/ethnicity and gender;

And whereas a Student Data Report with disaggregated student achievement data provides useful information about equity of opportunity and achievement;

And whereas the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education provides test score data disaggregated by only one student characteristic at a time (such as by providing data on African American/Black 3rd graders and female third graders, but not all African American/Black female third graders);

The Committee requests an analysis of the 2017 MCAS scores by race/ethnicity and gender, and by other relevant multiple categories.
