From the Superintendent: Welcome Back!

Dear Families,

Welcome to a new school year! We are looking forward to seeing your students next week. I hope that you and your family have had an opportunity to rest and rejuvenate this summer.

While the beginning of a new school year is an exciting time, I also want to acknowledge that we are experiencing difficult, confusing, and uncertain times as well – across our country and around the world. In these moments, it is a reminder to me of how our work in schools can reaffirm the values that we hold close and dear: values of compassion, collaboration, and equity.

Last year, I invited you to join me in envisioning the future of CPS. More than 700 educators, students, families, and local leaders shared ideas that contributed to the development of a strategic plan for our school district. In July, the School Committee unanimously endorsed the results of our work. I am excited to share more about our plans over the coming months and invite you to read more about CPS District Planning on our website.

In the meantime, please know that when we welcome your children next week, we are inviting them into more than just a school building. We are inviting them into a community to realize their unique and full potential. The world needs your kids, and it is an honor to work with them.
