9. School Committee Agenda (Policy Matters/Notifications/Requests for Information):

#16-25, Motion by Mayor Simmons, that the School Committee approve the negotiated memorandum of agreement for transition activities as presented for Dr. Kenneth Salim. 

#16-26, Motion by Mayor Simmons, that the School Committee authorize the Mayor to sign on behalf of the Committee the negotiated memorandum of agreement for transition activities as presented for Dr. Kenneth Salim.

#16-27, Joint Motion by Mayor Simmons, Mr. Fantini and Ms. Bowman, that the School Committee create a Civic Unity Sub-Committee comprised of a committee of three Members – the quorum shall be two members.

Purposes:
- To promote civic unity
-To consider matters relating to the civil rights, human rights, race and class relations and other aspects of civic unity in the Cambridge Public Schools;
-To work with city and other agencies that deal with these issues; 
-To respond to incidents or concerns that are brought to the attention of the School Committee relating to civil and human rights, race and class relations and other aspects of civic unity and to bring in the appropriate agencies, departments or legal services to assist in responding to such incidents; and
-To develop needed policies and legislation in this area.

Also, that the School Committee amend the Rules of the School Committee, Chapter 1, Section 7. Subcommittees, to reflect the creation of this Civic Unity Sub-Committee, if adopted.

#16-28Joint Motion by Mr. Harding and Ms. Kelly, Co-Chairs of the Budget Sub-Committee, that the School Committee approve the FY2017 Budget Guidelines as outlined in the attached document.  

#16-29, Joint Motion by Mr. Fantini and Ms. Kelly, that the Superintendent provide the School Committee with the reporting process that ensures all children’s accommodation plans are being followed.
