#15-267, Motion by Mayor Maher, that the law firm of Deutsch Williams Brooks DeRensis and Holland be retained for legal services related to contract negotiations for the new Superintendent of Schools.

#15-268, Motion by Mr. Harding, that the Vice-Chair of the School Committee schedule and organize a retreat in January with the School Committee and the Superintendent to reaffirm the working relationship and the short term goals of the Cambridge Public Schools for the remainder of SY2015-16. 

#15-269, Motion by Ms. Nolan, that the School Committee go on record supporting the California Teachers Association in their lawsuit, Friedrichs v. the California Teachers Association, which is about ensuring that all staff who benefit from the collective bargaining agreements pay the share of union dues used to cover the costs of collective bargaining.  

#15-270, Motion by Ad-Hoc Sub-Committee/Task Force on Norms and Goals, That the School Committee adopt the Norms developed by the Ad-Hoc Sub-Committee/Task Force on Norms and Goals as detailed in the attached document.

#15-271, Motion by Mr. Osborne, that Cambridge’s Controlled Choice Policy be revised in the following ways in order to more effectively support the district’s goals and core values.

1.  Effective with the 2015-16 school year, the School Committee restore the +/- 10% SES band for assigning students to grades JK-8.

2.  Effective with the 2015-16 school year, the School Committee restore the calculation of student socio economic status to capacity of a school’s grade rather than the actual enrollment of the grade.
