TRAINING

Learning to administer the BELA is not difficult, but administering it well requires prior preparation and practice. There is no "official" training, there are no tests to pass, no diplomas to be obtained. However, to administer the BELA successfully you do need to prepare yourself well. This preparation should include the following:
• View the Training DVD. This DVD is available free of charge on a first-come-first served basis
• Read the BELA Administration Manual thoroughly
• Familiarize yourself with all the materials, in particular the items in the toolkit
• Prepare the toolkit carefully in a manner that makes administration easier
• Read the score sheets carefully and fill them in during practice administrations
• Practice administering the BELA before actually using it as an assessment tool - you can role play with another adult or with a child who is not going to be assessed later on
