CREATE YOUR TOOLKIT

You will need to assemble the necessary materials to use with the BELA. The objects listed below are available in stores. Smaller objects will be easier to store and transport, but be sure that the objects for comparing size (shoe, sponge ball, car, and book) are obviously different in size. You will need to construct the laminated construction paper pieces. The box in the photograph is a toolbox purchased at a home building supply store. A toolbox has compartments that are useful for storage by administration item. If a toolbox is not available, any system that allows for the organization of the materials by assessment item can be used. We have found it extremely useful to package the laminated construction paper pieces in small plastic bags by assessment item for ease of administration.

    You will need to buy:

    One of each of the following:
    • pencil
    • keys
    • doll
    • cup
    • plastic banana
    • bus
    • picture
    • hat  
           
    One small and one large version of each of the following:
    • shoe
    • sponge ball
    • car
    • book

    Eight small objects, all same size and color (e.g. plastic ducks, blocks...)


    You will need to make:

    Laminated construction paper pieces, identical in size and shape,
    in the following colors:
    • red
    • white
    • blue
    • black
    • purple
    • yellow
    • green
    • orange

    
    Laminated construction paper pieces, in one color, in the following shapes:
    • circle
    • diamond
    • crescent
    • square
    • star
    • rectangle
    • heart
    • triangle
