Free and Reduced Cost Meals Program
For information about the free and reduced cost meal program, contact the Food Services Manager at 617-349-6858. Applications are also available in the cafeteria and online at www.cpsd.us.
Buying Meals Students can buy meals with pre-paid meal cards or by bringing in money. Please note that the cafeteria staff cannot accept bills over $20.00.
Pre-Paid Meal Cards You can pre-pay for meals weekly, monthly, or for the entire year. You can pre-pay meals for a student who eats school meals every day or only occasionally. The cafeteria staff keeps the meal card on file by room number and name, so students do not have to carry anything with them to buy a meal.
Purchase pre-paid meals in person in the cafeteria at the beginning of the school day, or send your student with cash or a check made out to “Cambridge Food Service.”
Alternative Lunch Students who eat school meals but do not like a particular dish may sign up for an alternative meal. A student must sign up on a list in the cafeteria the day before the meal is served. Alternative meals usually include a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, peanut butter and fluff sandwich, cheese sandwich and/or yogurt.
Home lunch The following are some tips for students bringing a lunch from home: • Milk and juice is available in the cafeteria for twenty-five cents. • Lunches from home cannot be heated at school.
