Cambridge Public School System is an urban school system adjacent to Boston, MA. The system consists of fourteen K-8 schools and one high school. |
Studebaker Theater is a performing and teaching company with a 24-year history of arts-in-the-classroom programming and professional development in the arts with teachers. Studebaker will provide the project's co-director and artists to lead the professional development workshops, make follow-up visits to classrooms, and attend focus group meetings. Studebaker will also provide a financial manager who will oversee all fiscal aspects of the project. Studebaker will participate in all aspects of planning and serve on all governing committees. |
Wheelock Family Theatre is an Equity theatre with a 21-year track record of creating quality performances and education programs in the context of inclusion and outreach. WFT's education staff will work closely with the other partners in designing the content of all education activities and will attend all of these events. WFT will also provide additional artists for professional development workshops. WFT's three professional productions per season will provide a live theatre focus for educational activities framing attendance at these productions by each and every Cambridge teacher and their students involved in the CPSDC. These include master study guides, pre-performance visits, partner buttons, and post-performance Q&A's with the casts of each production. |
Wheelock College's primary mission is to educate current and future teachers to meet the contemporary needs of our schools. The College will provide pedagogical expertise; resources such as 6 free graduate courses; arts interns to work with CPS K-5 teachers; access to current research regarding drama and education; and an expert to develop project assessment instruments and rubrics. College faculty and representatives will co-plan and co-present at some of the professional development workshops and focus groups. They will also participate in all aspects of planning and serve on all governing committees. |
Judith Contrucci has been active in the theater arts and education fields for several decades. During her tenure as Coordinator of the Cambridge Public Schools Department of Drama and Dance she has led numerous arts initiatives, the most recent being the creation of the Cambridge Middle Schools Drama Collaborative. |
Lesley Bannatyne co-directs the Studebaker Theater and Invisible Cities Group. She has been an artist in the schools since 1982, where she conducted residencies in schools ranging from Boxford, Massachusetts to Leysin, Switzerland. Lesley joined the CPSDC project as one of the founding artists in 1995 and has played an active role ever since. In addition to her work with CPSDC, she has provided the playwriting residency for the Cambridge Public Schools Playwriting Festival since 1986. |
