Purpose

The Family Resource Center registers students for school and connects families with local services.  Members of the FRC staff work with families on an individual basis to ensure access to the information and services that families need to support their children during and after school.

Introduction

Students register, and are assigned to school in Cambridge, under a Controlled Choice Plan which uses a variety of diversity factors and assignment preferences, including socio-economic status (determined by free and reduced price meal eligibility), siblings, proximity, and race or ethnicity in a narrowly tailored manner.  When parents or guardians complete their application forms at the Family Resource Center they have the option of identifying up to three choices of schools.  At that time they will be asked to voluntarily indicate eligibility for free and reduced price meals.

Welcome to the Cambridge Family Resource Center Web Site. We invite each of you to come to our Center so that you may receive personal assistance and guidance as you join our Cambridge Community.

The Cambridge Family Resource Center will assist you with the registration, selection, and assignment process for your child(ren) entering the Cambridge Public Schools; this is one of our primary goals, yet by no means is it our only purpose in serving you.

Our experienced staff will provide and establish connections for you and your children, to the many services and agencies in our city relating to child care, health care, after school programs and the many rich and diverse programs throughout our city.

We are here to make your transition to our City and our Schools smooth, individualized, and rewarding for all members of your family and we look forward to working with you.
