Why does the Fletcher-Maynard have uniforms?
School uniforms were adopted by the Merger Steering Committee, at the request of parents, when the Fletcher-Maynard Academy was opened in Spetember 2000. School uniforms help instill students with discipline, help both parents and students resist peer pressure, and allow students to concentrate more fully on their school work.

Must the school uniform be worn every day?
Students are expected to be in uniform every day, with the exception of 'dress-down' days that will be announced by the Principal or in cases where a waiver has been approved for religious reasons. Students must also wear the school uniform for all field trips, unless otherwise directed by the classroom teacher or the Principal. Students who are not in uniform may be denied permission to leave for a field trip.

What if a child is not in uniform?
The school has a limited supply of extra school uniforms on hand. Children who are not in uniform may be asked to use one of these uniforms, or a call may be placed to the parent/guardian requesting that a uniform be brought to school.

Do we have to buy a regulation uniform?
No. While standard uniforms can be purchased quite inexpensively, any attire meeting the uniform requirements is acceptable.

What if we can't afford a uniform?
Families needing financial assistance to purchase uniforms should contact the Family Coordinator or Principal at the school. A limited amount of assistance is available.

What if my child outgrows his/her uniform?
An annual uniform swap is held just prior to the opening of school. Contact the Family Coordinator for information.
