Genzyme Reading Buddies  
Genzyme Corporation through Cambridge School Volunteers busses employees over to the Fletcher Maynard Academy to read with a first or second grade student weekly.  Some students maintain the same Reading Buddy for two years.

MIT Environmental Project 
Students from MIT come into the third grade classrooms and teach the students about the environment and then take them on field trips to allow them the opportunity to apply what they have learned outside of school.

Tutoring Plus  
A Cambridge based organization that supports and encouraged the academic and social growth of Cambridge children through the use of volunteers and existing community resources. Tutoring Plus opened its newest program, a tutoring center for Middle Grade students,(Grades 6-8) at Fletcher-Maynard, two nights a week. All of the programs are staffed by volunteers and are free of charge.

Public Health Grant  
A Healthy Choice Grant for our middle school students.  Students will learn about proper nutrition and exercise and will also be given the opportunity to create healthy foods and to exercise, using free weights and aerobics.

IMATH
MIT sponsored program which focuses on providing an interactive approach to mathematics through the use of internet based applications.  This approach is geared towards enhancing eighth graders skills in the areas of algebra and geometry, areas in which many eighth graders struggle, but areas that are fundamental to their understanding of further mathematical and scientific concepts.

Lesley University
Fletcher-Maynard Academy is a K through 8 Literacy Collaborative Program.  We partner with Lesley College training our three Literacy Coordinators in the best practices in Reading and Writing.  They then offer Professional Development and Coaching to the rest of the FMA staff.  

We have many volunteers from Lesley College in our Extended Day Program teaching the Peace Games curriculum, solving problems using words instead of actions and working together cooperatively.

Lesley University sends many students to do their Teaching Practicum and Student Teaching at the Fletcher-Maynard Academy.

Junior Achievement
People from the business community come in and work with students teaching them about the business world and government.

Science Club for Girls
This is a parent-founded non profit program with female volunteers leading a hands-on science club for girls from Kindergarten to 7th grade.

City Year
This is an AmeriCorps program, a national service organization which unites young adults , ages 17 to 24, for a year of fulltime rigorous community service , leadership development, and civic engagement.  The City Year volunteers wok in classrooms during the school day, and assist with tutoring in the Extended Day Program.
