English Language Arts
- Students will produce quality work through consistent expectations in ELA.
- Students will benefit from a unified and effective approach to Differentiated Instruction in ELA.
- Students will be provided with instruction that reflects consistent application of the State ELA frameworks.
- Students will be provided with increased opportunity for building and practicing oral language.
- Teachers will effectively limit classroom disruptions and students will have more time on task through a revised discipline policy.
- Design a sustained silent reading program in 7th and 8th grade.
Mathematics
- Increase teacher proficiency in delivery of a balanced math program CMP/TERC) in grades K-8, utilizing hands on experience, discussion, problem solving and mastery of math facts.
- Students will develop stronger conceptual thinking and computational skills at all grade levels.
- Students will benefit from a unified and effective approach to Differentiated Instruction in Mathematics.
- Utilize all available student data to discern where language/reading problems are interfering with success in mathematics.
- Students will benefit from increasing emphasis on test-taking strategies in mathematics.
School Climate
- Continue to improve and strengthen the school climate so that all parents, students, and faculty are in a safe, respectful environment and are welcomed and encouraged to be actively involved in the life of the school.
- Increase parent participation in both the educational and social activities within the school.
- Encourage students in their roles as peacemakers, and engender an atmosphere free of bullying, harassment, or intimidation.
Portfolios/Presentations Portfolios require students to collect samples of their work over the year, review it with teachers and parents, keep a record of their actual progress, and begin creating a resume for college and career efforts.
Progress Reports Progress reports are a mini-report card that communicates to students and their parents the progress of their child at the half way point of the marking term. while progress reports differ from cluster to cluster, they are a valuable communication between home and school. They serve to update parents and caregivers on student progress and warn of any impending course failure.
Report Cards Report cards are issued two(2) times per year-- in January and June. Report card provide a general picture--when combined with family/teacher conferences of students progress.
