  • Students will benefit from increasing emphasis on test-taking strategies in mathematics.

School Climate

  • Increase parent participation in both the educational and social activities within the school.
  • Encourage students in their roles as peacemakers, and engender an atmosphere free of bullying, harassment, or intimidation.

Portfolios/Presentations
Portfolios require students to collect samples of their work over the year, review it with teachers and parents, keep a record of their actual progress, and begin creating a resume for college and career efforts.

Progress Reports
Progress reports are a mini-report card that communicates to students and their parents the progress of their child at the half way point of the marking term. while progress reports differ from cluster to cluster, they are a valuable communication between home and school. They serve to update parents and caregivers on student progress and warn of any impending course failure.

Report Cards
Report cards are issued two(2) times per year-- in January and June. Report card provide a general picture--when combined with family/teacher conferences of students progress.

This year, the Community School program of the Department of Human Services will be operating the school's after school program, from 3:45-5:30 MTThF, and form 2-5:30 on Wednesdays. The program will serve Junior Kindergartners to 6th graders and will cost $60 a month for Fletcher Maynard students.

The program offers homework help, supplementary academic support, snack,  and enrichment activities through our on-site staff, Science Club for Girls and other programs offered through local non profits and neighboring universities. The FMA also maintains a close relationship with both MIT and Harvard Universities which provide the after school program, and the school at large, with volunteers that serve in many capacities in the program--from classroom volunteers to big siblings for our students.

The Community School program has an exciting year planned. We have exciting classes and lots more in store. If you have any questions please contact Yuliya Goncharov at 617-3496295 or email to ygoncharov@cambridgema.gov; or Uche Amaechi at 617-575-9301 or amaechi@me.com.
