Baldwin Celebrates Walk/Ride Day

Walk/Ride Day - September 24, 2010

Thanks to the dedication of long-time Baldwin parent, Hope Kelley, the Baldwin has been participating in Green Streets Walk/Ride Day for the past few years.  Hope has organized in-school raffles as well as started a pilot program where the teachers take attendance, marking how students came to school.  With this data, Hope reports to our staff and families how 'green' our school is.  September 2010, 74% of our students arrived via green means.  Our 'greenest' grade is our 8th grade with 86%.  Congratulations!

The Green Streets Initiative is an international grassroots organization based in Cambridge that celebrates, promotes, and advocates for the use of alternative transportation.  The Green Streets Initiative is best known for the creation of monthly Walk/Ride Days.  Walk/Ride Days occur on the last Friday of every month.  On these days people everywhere are invited to go green and wear green.
