Science Expo 2010

Baldwin Science Expo 2010, a non-competitive school-wide event, where students display their science projects and share their scientific discoveries, took place on April 28.  The Baldwin gymnasium was filled with hundreds of science projects.  Students in grades K-3 displayed their class projects.  Students in grades 4-8 presented individual projects.  School Committee member Fred Fantini came to visit and was very impressed with the work of our students and by the wonderful turnout of our families.

Many thanks to Dave Suchy, science teacher for the 7th and 8th grade, who spearheaded this bi-annual event.  Thank you to Linda Costa for selling the poster boards.  Thank you to the Friends of Baldwin for sponsoring this event!  Special thanks to all of the teachers and parents who supported this process. A special thank you to Polly Carpenter and Carla Francazio, the architects from Learning by Design, who helped our 4th and 5th grade students with their EcoCenters.  In the sessions that they spent with the students, our students learned the concepts of natural and human ecosystem relationships and made connections between man’s use of the natural world, its conservation and how we design and build for it,  how the site of a building influences its use of natural and energy resources and how the sun influences the design of buildings.
