Mary Newell DePalma Visits the Baldwin on March 31

On March 31, our kindergarten and first grade classes met author and illustrator Mary Newell DePalma!  Ms. DePalma's books include The Grand Old Tree, The Nutcracker Doll, The Perfect Gift and The Strange Egg.  She spoke to our students about the book writing and illustrating process.  You start with a lot of thinking and daydreaming, then brainstorming, research and interviewing experts, imagining your beautiful idea and then lots of editing and revisions.  She encouraged the students by telling them that the skills they are learning are the skills needed to write and illustrate a book.
